There is something especially uncomfortable about horror built around the way people actually live online. The Influencer Project takes that discomfort and pushes it into found-footage territory, mixing mockumentary filmmaking with livestreams, social media posts, surveillance footage, and the ugly side of being watched by thousands of strangers every day. The 2026 horror movie stars…
Social media horror has become its own strange little corner of the genre. We have had influencers trapped in thrillers, livestreams turning into murder scenes, and found-footage movies that understand exactly how unsettling it can be to watch somebody through a phone screen. The Influencer Project (2026) takes that anxiety and pushes it toward a…
Horror has always been good at finding new places to hide. For years, that place has increasingly been the internet, where livestreams, parasocial relationships, anonymous accounts, stalking, and digital harassment have given filmmakers a very different kind of nightmare to work with. The found-footage boom of the late 1990s came out of a world becoming increasingly fascinated by cheap digital cameras, the early internet, and the idea that ordinary-looking footage could hide something genuinely disturbing. In 2026, that anxiety has…
Horror has always found ways to turn everyday fears into something uglier, but The Influencer Project has an especially easy target in front of it. The 2026 found-footage thriller takes the familiar world of influencers, livestreams, followers, sponsorships and constant camera exposure and asks what happens when being visible online stops being a career advantage…
There is something particularly nasty about The Influencer Project. Not because it needs some elaborate supernatural mythology or a monster hiding in the dark, but because almost everything frightening about it already exists. The film takes the familiar machinery of influencer culture—followers, livestreams, location tags, sponsorships, constant filming—and turns it into the exact thing that…
