As NAB 2011 gets fully underway and every company starts to announce their next big thing, we wanted to get in on the party. What better way than to launch our fully redesigned site. We are crazy excited for you to poke around at what we hope will soon become one of your favorite resources for independent film.

We have spent the past 8 months, dreaming, brainstorming, coding, and planning all of the ways PZ can benefit the filmmaking community. As filmmakers ourselves, we were a little disappointed with some of the resources available online, and we have set out on a mission to try to solve some of the biggest problems.

As you will notice, our articles are back in a big way. Beginning with coverage of NAB 2011, we will continue to provide the most recent news, and most helpful articles. Sure we want to cover the new gear, debate the latest technology, and discuss the changes in the industry. However, we also want to provide insider perspective of how to break into the business, give helpful tutorials and tips, and communicate invaluable information to actually better your craft.  Whether we are writers, directors, cinematographers, or composers, we are constantly trying to improve.  We want PZ to become a new and helpful community where artists can help other artists.

But thats not all…

We have realized one very simple fact about making movies … it takes a team.  Sure anyone can run around today and shoot a video by him/herself (and we have made thousands of those!).  But we have a sneaking suspicion that you crave more than a few hundred YouTube views.  We believe you want to make films that move people, that touch souls, that inspire. And for the most part, creating that kind of art is really hard, and we all need some help.

The problem is- without tons of money or Steven Spielberg’s rolodex, how do you find those really talented people in your area to help you?

That is the problem we have been tirelessly working on.  We know directors need great composers to score their film.  Production designers need actors to costume.  Writers need cinematographers to turn their words into beautiful images.  8 months and thousands of lines of code later, we may finally have a solution.

Its just not quite ready yet.

For the next few weeks, we will be perfecting all of the exciting new features of PZ.  We hope to unveil them very very soon.  After that, we will be holding an exclusive trial for a select group of talented artists to try out all of the cool things we have in store.
