An Incredible VDSLR Piece

I, like many of us, shoot weddings on the side. I always squirm when explaining this, avoiding the word “video” for the negative connotations it carries after years of poor technologies and thousands of low quality products forever ruined the word and the respect of the market for those of us who want to create something different. Wedding films gives a better idea of what is possible with cameras like the Sony EX series and the new VDSLR options. There is a growing market of filmmakers who create wedding films inject life and art into an otherwise tired field.

And then there is Pacific Pictures.

The above video is from their latest Concept Movie/Wedding Film (a package starting at $20,000) which blends a live event with a scripted production. The result is incredible and unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The production value is unreal with many scenes reminiscent (and perhaps surpassing) Slumdog Millionaire using only Canon 7D’s and 5D Mark II’s. If you weren’t sold on the commercial viability of these pint sized cams, this clip should destroy any doubts of what’s capable in skilled hands.

I’m not sure why I’m still writing as the clip really speaks for itself. Watch it.
