Will the iPad Have a Market?
The day the iPad was announced, I watched the video announcement, looked up specs, read outside reviews, etc. Truthfully, the product intrigues me. As Steve Jobs was presenting it and showing off all the features, I found myself saying , “My laptop can do that” or “My phone can do that.” And truthfully, they can probably do those things better than the iPad can. In a world where most people who would potentially buy the iPad already have both a laptop and some kind of smart phone and where the economy is in a shabby state of affairs, the iPad has no place. Though a “neat” gadget, at the prices Apple is asking, very few in this day and age are going to see a necessity large enough to purchase it.
If Apple had wanted to make the product a little more marketable, they should have added a couple key items. First of all, being a tablet, the iPad should have a stylus. If it is supposed to replace papers and folders, it should have a way to jot down a quick note. Another important lacking feature is a camera, preferably one on the front to also serve as a webcam. Perhaps if Apple had included those two key features, the product would have had a wider market. But as it currently stands, I don’t know if the iPad will survive.
