6 Books on Film, Worth my Time
Let me lay a couple of disclaimer ground rules before we get to the books. This list is just what it is called- 6 books which happen to be about film or filmmaking, and which also happen to have benefited me or caused me to think in some way . I will never pretend to be a film scholar or a film expert, and this list is no way comprehensive, but I liked something about each of these books. I was not ashamed to plunk down some hard-earned cash and spend some precious hours reading these (even if I firmly disagreed!). Maybe you won’t be ashamed to do the same.
Here is the beginning of what I hope to be an ever-growing list, in no particular order:
1. The Conversations: Walter Murch and the Art of Editing Film, by Michael Ondaatje
2. Film Theory and Criticism, edited by Leo Braudy and Marshall Cohen
3. The War of Art, by Steven Pressfield
4. In the Blink of an Eye, by Walter Murch
5. Story, by Robert McKee
6. Save the Cat!, by Blake Snyder
